DAY-NRLM Initiative Promotes Child Protection and Women’s Safety in Ferrargunj

Date:

Ferrargunj, June 20: Addressing concerns related to child protection, women’s safety and gender equality, a Gender Awareness and Child Safety Campaign was conducted at Wright MYO Community Hall in Mannarghat under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), bringing together community members for discussions on critical social issues.

The awareness programme was organized in C.D. Block Ferrargunj and witnessed the participation of 35 community members. The campaign focused on strengthening public awareness about child safety and promoting a safer and more inclusive social environment.

During the programme, participants were sensitized on a range of issues affecting children and women. Key topics covered included child safety, women’s safety, prevention of child marriage, understanding good touch and bad touch, and the importance of gender equality in society.

The initiative aimed to improve awareness at the community level and encourage collective responsibility in safeguarding the rights and well-being of children and women. Organisers highlighted the need for informed communities to play an active role in preventing abuse, discrimination and harmful social practices.

The campaign was facilitated by FNHW and Gender Community Resource Person Rakhi Lakra, who led interactive discussions and awareness activities during the session. Participants were encouraged to engage in conversations on child protection and gender-related concerns, creating a platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing.

The discussions focused on equipping community members with information that could help them identify risks, respond appropriately to child safety concerns and contribute to creating a supportive environment for women and children. Awareness regarding gender equality and the prevention of child marriage also formed a key component of the programme.

Officials associated with the campaign emphasized that community participation remains essential in promoting safety, dignity and equal opportunities for all sections of society. The programme sought to strengthen awareness at the grassroots level while encouraging residents to take an active role in protecting vulnerable groups.

The campaign concluded with active participation from attendees, reflecting continued efforts under DAY-NRLM to integrate social awareness initiatives with community development programmes and foster safer, more inclusive rural communities.
