G.B. Pant Hospital Records 142 Online OPD Bookings as Island Patients Get Easier Access to Specialists

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 13: Patients travelling from remote islands of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands can now book outpatient department (OPD) appointments at G.B. Pant Hospital online, with 142 patients having registered through the facility since its introduction on September 21.

The system aims to reduce the need for patients to stand in long queues for OPD registration and help them reach the relevant specialists according to their booked appointments. The facility is intended particularly for residents of far-flung islands who travel to Sri Vijaya Puram to access specialist consultations and treatment.

Patients can book appointments through the Government of India’s Online Registration System portal at https://ors.gov.in/orsportal/. After completing online registration, they can approach Counter No. 1 at G.B. Pant Hospital, which the hospital has designated exclusively to assist patients who have booked appointments through the system.

The counter provides further guidance and assistance to help registered patients proceed with their appointments and access the concerned specialist.

The introduction of online booking offers an alternative to on-site OPD registration for patients who can access the portal before visiting the hospital. For people travelling from distant islands, the facility is intended to make the registration process more convenient and reduce waiting at the hospital.

The hospital has urged residents, particularly those living in far-flung islands, to use the online system when seeking OPD services. The 142 registrations recorded since the facility began indicate that patients have already started using the service, although no further details on its uptake or impact were provided.

The online appointment facility has been operational since September 21, 2026, according to the hospital’s announcement dated October 12.
