Sri Vijaya Puram, June 22: Strengthening awareness on child protection and gender-related issues at the community level remains a key challenge in ensuring safe and inclusive societies. Addressing this concern, a Gender Awareness and Child Safety Campaign was conducted at Wright MYO Community Hall in Mannarghat under Ferrargunj Block, bringing together community members to discuss issues affecting the safety and well-being of children and women.
The programme was organised under the aegis of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) and witnessed the participation of 35 community members.
The campaign focused on creating awareness about critical social issues linked to child welfare, women’s safety and gender inclusion. Discussions during the session covered child safety, women’s safety, prevention of child marriage, the concept of good touch and bad touch, and the importance of gender equality in everyday life.
Officials associated with the programme said the initiative aimed to improve public understanding of issues that directly affect vulnerable sections of society and encourage collective responsibility towards creating safer communities.
The awareness session emphasised the need for early intervention, informed decision-making and community participation in preventing social issues that impact children and women. Participants were encouraged to engage in discussions and understand the importance of protecting the rights and well-being of children while promoting equal opportunities for all.
The campaign also highlighted the role of community-level awareness in addressing harmful practices and building an environment that supports safety, dignity and inclusion. Through interactive activities and discussions, participants were sensitised to recognise risks, respond appropriately and contribute to a culture of respect and equality.

The programme was facilitated by Rakhi Lakra, FNHW and Gender Community Resource Person (CRP), who conducted interactive awareness activities and discussions throughout the session.
The campaign forms part of ongoing efforts under DAY-NRLM to strengthen social awareness and encourage community engagement on issues related to gender sensitivity, child protection and social development.
Organisers stated that such awareness initiatives remain important in promoting informed communities and supporting efforts to create safe, equitable and inclusive environments for children and women at the grassroots level.
