Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 5: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Kolkata Bench, will conduct a physical circuit sitting at Port Blair from September 7 to 18, 2026, with fresh applications also to be entertained during the scheduled period.
The Deputy Registrar/Head of Office of the Kolkata Bench has informed the Administration about the circuit sitting, allowing departments with CAT matters to prepare their cases ahead of the hearings.
Departments having pending CAT cases have been asked to coordinate with the Government Pleader or Panel Advocates and provide them with the relevant case documents along with a detailed briefing. The move is aimed at ensuring that the Government Counsel has the necessary records and case details to represent the Administration during the proceedings.

Heads of Departments have also been instructed to direct their Nodal Officers to remain present at the Tribunal on the respective dates of hearing. The officers must carry the relevant documents required to assist the Government Pleader or Panel Advocate during the proceedings.
The sitting will cover cases listed before the Tribunal as well as fresh applications received for consideration during the circuit period.
The Administration has accordingly placed emphasis on advance coordination between the departments, their designated Nodal Officers and legal representatives so that the required records and case information are available when matters are taken up.
The physical sitting is scheduled to run from September 7 to September 18, providing a 12-day window for proceedings before the Kolkata Bench at Port Blair.
