Sri Vijaya Puram, July 18: Thirty-seven candidates were issued admission allotment letters for the five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. programme at Andaman Law College following the completion of the first round of counselling for the 2026-27 academic session under the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning.
The admission allotment letters were handed over on Friday by D. Surya Prakasa Rao, Vice Chancellor of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), Visakhapatnam, during the counselling programme held at Andaman Law College.
Addressing the newly admitted students, Surya Prakasa Rao said quality legal education is essential for producing competent advocates and strengthening the country’s judicial system. He said the preservation of democracy and protection of constitutional values begin in law classrooms and stressed the importance of legal education in building a vibrant judiciary.
Referring to India’s freedom movement, he noted that Mahatma Gandhi was a lawyer and that many leaders who participated in the struggle for independence belonged to the legal profession. He expressed confidence that the newly established Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning would meet the expectations of both the public and the authorities.
The Vice Chancellor also assured continued academic support to Andaman Law College through DSNLU Visakhapatnam in its role as the mentor university. He congratulated the selected candidates and appreciated their parents for choosing legal education as a career path.
According to the college, 942 applications were received for admission to the programme. Of these, 350 candidates, accompanied by their parents, attended the counselling process.
The counselling was conducted in accordance with the prescribed norms by a committee headed by C. Balaramalingam, Assistant Professor, with faculty members and staff assisting in the admission process.
Earlier in the day, the counselling session was inaugurated by S. Surya Prakash, Vice Chancellor of National Law Institute University, Bhopal.
Principal of Andaman Law College P.V.N. Sarma announced that classes for the newly admitted students under the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning will commence on July 23, 2026. He also said counselling for the remaining vacant seats will be conducted during the next round of admissions.
