Andaman Opens Online Applications for Government Housing Allotment 2026-27

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 30: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has invited online applications from eligible government employees for allotment of government residential accommodation under the General Pool for the 2026-27 session, with the application process scheduled to remain open from June 1 to June 30, 2026.

The Housing and Estate Department issued the notification and directed applicants to submit their requests exclusively through the Automated Allotment of Government Accommodation Application (AAGA) Portal, a digital platform developed to provide a paperless and fully automated allotment process.

According to the Administration, applications will be accepted online until 5 p.m. on June 30, 2026. The exercise is part of the annual process for preparing a fresh seniority list and allocating government accommodation to eligible employees of departments functioning under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

The AAGA Portal was developed by the Housing and Estate Department in collaboration with the Information Technology Department through SOVTECH and was launched on March 25, 2021. The portal was designed to provide an end-to-end digital solution for housing allotment with no manual intervention. It incorporates online verification mechanisms involving Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), the Medical Department in applicable medical cases and the Housing and Estate Department for further scrutiny of applications.

The Administration has clarified that government servants whose names were included in the seniority list under the General category for the 2025-26 session but who have not yet been allotted accommodation must submit fresh applications for consideration during the 2026-27 session.

Employees seeking allotment under the ‘Out of Turn’ category on medical grounds for the 2026-27 session have also been asked to apply online. However, applicants who had already submitted requests under the medical category during the 2025-26 session will not be required to submit fresh applications.

The allotment process will continue to follow the provisions of Rule 5 of the Allotment of Accommodation of Andaman and Nicobar Administrative Residences (General Pool) Rules, 1991. Under the rules, regular government servants of the Administration are allotted accommodation based on seniority determined by the date of their entry into government service under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

Officials stated that the seniority list prepared through the current application process will remain valid until May 31, 2027. The Administration has also reiterated that ad hoc and contractual employees are not eligible for allotment of government residential accommodation under the General Pool and that applications from such employees will not be considered.

The notification further stated that applications from newly appointed government servants, employees transferred from outside stations and officers joining on deputation after June 30, 2026, will continue to be accepted online throughout the year. Their placement in the seniority list will be made in accordance with applicable provisions.

Existing allottees seeking a change of accommodation on repair, medical, mutual exchange, transfer grounds or for allotment of a higher-type quarter have also been directed to submit applications through the online portal. The Administration has made it clear that no hard copies of applications are required and that offline submissions will not be entertained.
