Sri Vijaya Puram, July 01: The Directorate of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, has approved the re-engagement of eligible part-time employees in government schools for the academic session 2026-27, paving the way for the immediate resumption of services by Part-Time Pre-Primary Teachers, Part-Time Pre-Primary Ayahs/Safai Karamacharis, Part-Time Craft Instructors and Part-Time Attendants.
The approval has been conveyed by the Director (Education), directing all Zonal Officers, Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and Heads of Institutions to re-engage eligible personnel with immediate effect in the schools where they had previously served during the 2025-26 academic session.
According to the order, the re-engagement applies to part-time employees who continued to work until the closure of schools for the Summer Vacation 2026. Their continuation for the current academic session will be subject to satisfactory performance during the previous academic year.
The Directorate has directed that all re-engagements must strictly adhere to the prescribed eligibility guidelines. It has specifically stated that, in the case of Part-Time Pre-Primary Teachers (PPTs) and Part-Time Pre-Primary Ayahs/Safai Karamacharis (PPA/SK), re-engagement will be permitted only if a minimum enrolment of five students is available in each pre-primary section of the respective school.
The Administration has instructed all concerned authorities to complete the re-engagement process without delay to ensure that schools have the required support staff in place for the ongoing academic session.
To facilitate the issuance of formal engagement orders, all Zonal Officers, DDOs and Heads of Institutions have been directed to submit consolidated joining reports of the re-engaged employees to the Directorate of Education on or before July 10, 2026.

The Directorate stated that DDO-wise formal engagement orders will be issued after receipt of the consolidated joining reports from the respective schools.
The decision is aimed at ensuring the continuity of essential support services in government schools during the current academic session while maintaining compliance with the prescribed eligibility conditions for part-time engagement.
The Directorate has instructed all field officers and educational institutions to complete the process within the stipulated timeline to facilitate the smooth functioning of schools across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the 2026-27 academic year.
