Rangat Police Seize 61 Bottles of IMFL in Bakultala, Register Excise Case

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 13: Police seized 61 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), containing approximately 17 litres, during a search operation in Bakultala on October 12, and registered an excise case at Rangat Police Station.

Rangat Police conducted the search following what officials described as credible intelligence about illegal liquor-related activity. The seizure involved bottles of various brands, according to information released by North and Middle Andaman District Police.

The case concerns the illegal possession, transportation and sale of liquor, activities that remain subject to excise laws. Police have initiated further legal proceedings in connection with the seizure, in accordance with the law.

The available information does not specify whether anyone was arrested, who possessed the seized bottles, where the liquor was allegedly being transported or whether investigators identified a suspected source or intended recipient. No further details about the circumstances surrounding the seizure were provided.

The seizure comes amid continued enforcement by North and Middle Andaman District Police against the illegal possession, movement and sale of liquor. The latest operation focused on Bakultala, while the case has been registered at Rangat Police Station.

An excise case registration marks the initiation of legal proceedings, but the information released so far does not establish who was responsible for the liquor or the circumstances in which it was found. Further details may emerge as the proceedings continue.

District Police have urged residents to report suspected illegal activities to the nearest police station or through the emergency helplines 100 and 112. The police have said that informers’ identities will remain confidential and that rewards will be given for actionable information.

The seizure highlights the enforcement action being taken against suspected violations of excise laws in North and Middle Andaman. However, details about the ownership of the liquor, any persons involved and the outcome of the case remain undisclosed in the information available.
