Sri Vijaya Puram, August 11: A 40-year-old resident of Shanti Basti in Nimbutala, who went missing from his home on August 9, was traced in Betapur and reunited with his family after a search involving police teams from Rangat and Billiground. The man’s psychological condition and vulnerability led authorities to treat the missing-person report as an immediate priority.
Police Station Rangat began the search after receiving information from the man’s family. The search involved examining CCTV footage, checking passenger manifests and conducting enquiries on the ground to establish his whereabouts.
These efforts led investigators to information indicating that the missing man was in Betapur. Police Station Rangat then coordinated with Police Station Billiground, whose team took up the search in the area.
The missing man was subsequently located in Betapur and brought back to Rangat. He was taken to CHC Rangat for medical evaluation and necessary care, following which the required formalities were completed.
He was later reunited with his family members, who had been searching for him since his disappearance.
The case highlights the challenges involved in locating vulnerable missing persons, particularly when their psychological condition may increase the risks associated with being away from home. In this instance, information gathered through CCTV examination, passenger records and ground-level enquiries helped narrow the search to Betapur.
The N&MA District Police said the missing person was safely restored to his family after the coordinated search. The incident also underscores the role of timely reporting by families and the use of multiple methods to establish the whereabouts of a missing person.
The man’s disappearance had been reported after he left his residence on August 9. Following the search and his medical evaluation at CHC Rangat, authorities completed the necessary formalities before handing him back to his family.
