Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: The Indian Navy’s Symphonic Orchestra performed in Sri Vijaya Puram on October 7 as the Andaman and Nicobar Command marked its Silver Jubilee, with the programme bringing together senior Armed Forces and civil administration officials at the DBRAIT Auditorium in Dollygunj.
Lt. Governor Dinesh Sharma attended the special musical programme as the chief guest. The event formed part of the celebrations marking 25 years of the Andaman and Nicobar Command.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said the Command represents courage, trust and security for islanders. He said personnel from the three Armed Forces have stood alongside citizens during difficult situations, including natural disasters, emergency medical services and air evacuations.

The Lt. Governor also described music as a symbol of unity, discipline and harmony and said it contributes to the holistic development of an individual. He appreciated Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command, Vice Admiral Vineet McCarthy, and the artistes for preserving the cultural heritage associated with the Indian Navy’s Band.
The programme was attended by Vice Admiral Vineet McCarthy, AVSM; former Commander-in-Chief Air Marshal (Retd.) Saju Balakrishnan; senior officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration; senior officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Police; Armed Forces personnel; and other dignitaries.
The Naval Symphonic Orchestra presented a series of musical performances during the programme, drawing an enthusiastic response from the audience.
The performance marked a cultural component of the Command’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, bringing together serving and former senior military leadership, government officials, security personnel and other attendees at the DBRAIT Auditorium.
