Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 16: A Hindi essay-writing competition for school students was organised in Sri Vijaya Puram on Tuesday as part of the programmes being conducted for Hindi Fortnight-2026.
The competition was organised for students from Classes 6 to 8 and Classes 9 and 10 studying in Tamil, Bengali and Telugu medium schools in the Sri Vijaya Puram headquarters area.
A good number of students participated in the competition, with students taking part enthusiastically in the Hindi essay-writing activity.
The event formed part of a series of programmes being conducted during Hindi Fortnight-2026. The initiative included students from different medium schools in the headquarters area, bringing together participants from Tamil, Bengali and Telugu medium institutions for the Hindi essay-writing competition.
The Hindi Fortnight programmes are continuing with another competition scheduled for Wednesday, September 16.
A Hindi typing competition will be organised on September 16 for employees of various departments and offices of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, as well as employees of member offices of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee.
The Hindi typing competition will be held at the Hindi Typing Training Centre of the Official Language Department, Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
The two competitions are part of the programmes being organised in connection with Hindi Fortnight-2026, with the essay-writing competition involving school students and the typing competition involving employees of the administration and member offices of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee.
The September 15 essay-writing competition provided an opportunity for students from Tamil, Bengali and Telugu medium schools in the Sri Vijaya Puram headquarters area to participate in a Hindi-language activity as part of the fortnight-long programme.
The participation of students from different medium schools was a notable feature of the competition, which was conducted for two groups, Classes 6 to 8 and Classes 9 to 10.
The next programme in the series will be the Hindi typing competition on September 16 at the Hindi Typing Training Centre of the Official Language Department.
The Hindi Fortnight-2026 programmes are being conducted with activities involving both school students and employees of government departments and offices in the islands.
