Power Cut Today in Several South Andaman Areas for HT Line Clearance and LT Cable Replacement

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 12:  Power supply will remain suspended across several areas of South Andaman on September 12 as the Electricity Department carries out high-tension line clearance and replacement of damaged low-tension aerial bundled cable at Kanyapuram.

The scheduled shutdown will affect areas served by the SBFG feeder, including Kamsarat Dam, Kadakachang-I, Kadakachang-II, Model Village, Padauk Bagicha, Mannarghat, Malapuram, Wright Myo and the Shoal Bay panchayat area. The Ferrargunj site office and Kanyapuram will also be affected.

The shutdown has been scheduled in connection with maintenance work attached to the Wimberlygunj site office under the South Andaman Division. The work will involve cutting and trimming bushes along the HT line and replacing damaged LT ABC at Kanyapuram.

According to the power supply notice, the affected feeder is scheduled to remain shut on September 12 from 0800 hrs to 0100 hrs. The department has informed the general public, consumers and government departments in advance about the planned interruption.

The maintenance work is subject to weather conditions. The department has also stated that if the work is completed earlier than scheduled, the feeder will be charged accordingly, allowing power supply to resume before the notified shutdown period ends.

The affected locations cover residential and other areas linked to the SBFG feeder, along with the Ferrargunj site office and Kanyapuram. Consumers and government departments in these areas have therefore been advised through the advance notification to take note of the scheduled interruption.

The maintenance programme combines vegetation clearance along the high-tension line with replacement of damaged low-tension aerial bundled cable at Kanyapuram. Both activities form part of the work being undertaken under the South Andaman Division through the Wimberlygunj site office.

The department’s notification sets out the affected feeder and areas so that consumers can account for the planned interruption while the maintenance work is carried out. Any early completion of the work will be followed by restoration of the feeder, subject to the completion of the scheduled activities.
