Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 4: Several areas of South Andaman will face scheduled power interruptions on September 5 as the Electricity Department undertakes cut-point structure, high-tension (HT) pole and HT and low-tension (LT) line works in the Ograbraj and Sippighat site-office jurisdictions.
The planned shutdown will affect different feeders and areas at separate times, with the first interruption scheduled from 8 am to 1 pm on the SBFG feeder. The affected stretch will cover Tushnabad, Ograbraj and Bengali Basti to the Tirur area.
A second interruption has been scheduled from 8 am to noon on the Tiger feeder. The shutdown will affect Sippighat, Kalla Pathar, Coffee Bagicha, Dhanikhadi, Chouldari, Port Mout, Ograbraj and Namunaghar.

The power interruption has been planned to facilitate infrastructure work under the South Andaman Division. The department has advised general consumers and government departments in the affected areas to take note of the scheduled outage.
Work at the Ograbraj Site Office jurisdiction will involve a cut-point structure, while the Sippighat Site Office attached to Chouldari will undertake HT pole work and HT and LT line-related works.
The department said the scheduled works will remain subject to weather conditions. It also clarified that if the work is completed ahead of schedule, the affected feeder will be charged accordingly, allowing power supply to resume earlier than the stated shutdown period.
Consumers and government departments in the affected locations have therefore been asked to account for the scheduled interruption while the electrical works are carried out.
The shutdown schedule covers September 5, 2026, with both affected feeders expected to undergo work during the morning hours. The SBFG feeder is scheduled for interruption until 1 pm, while the Tiger feeder shutdown is scheduled to end at noon, subject to the progress of the works and weather conditions
