Sri Vijaya Puram, July 31: The Science Centre at Goodwill Estate on Corbyn’s Cove Road will organise a series of evening science programmes for visitors on August 1 and 2, offering astronomy-based activities alongside 3D and bubble shows aimed at promoting public engagement with science.
According to the schedule announced by the Science Centre, the two-day programme will feature a Sky Show from 5.30 pm to 7 pm, 3D shows at 5.30 pm and 6.15 pm, and a Bubble Show at 6.15 pm on both days.
As part of the Sky Show, visitors will receive a sky map of the night sky over Sri Vijaya Puram to help them identify planets and other celestial bodies. Participants will also have an opportunity to observe the planet Venus, commonly known as the Morning Star and Evening Star, through a powerful telescope. The Science Centre stated that the Sky Show will be conducted subject to favourable weather conditions.
The Bubble Show has been designed as an interactive programme for visitors of all age groups. According to the organisers, the demonstration will feature a variety of bubble formations, including tiny bubbles, giant bubbles, cubic bubbles, caterpillar bubbles, fire bubbles and Doraemon-themed bubbles.
The 3D shows will also be held twice each evening, providing visitors with an additional science-based visual experience as part of the weekend programme.
The Science Centre has fixed the entry fee for both the Sky Show and Bubble Show at Rs. 10 per person for each programme. The entry fee for the 3D Show has been set at Rs. 20 per person.
The initiative forms part of the Science Centre’s public outreach activities, providing residents and visitors with an opportunity to participate in science-based educational programmes during the weekend. The evening schedule combines astronomy observation, interactive demonstrations and visual presentations to encourage wider public interest in science and scientific learning.
