Centre Launches TB Mukt Bharat App to Strengthen Tuberculosis Care Nationwide

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 31: The Central TB Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the TB Mukt Bharat App, a digital platform designed to strengthen tuberculosis care, improve public awareness and encourage greater community participation under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP). The initiative aims to provide easier access to TB-related services while supporting patients throughout their treatment and promoting wider public involvement in the country’s tuberculosis elimination efforts.

According to the Ministry, the application has been developed as a user-friendly platform that enables individuals to access essential information and services related to tuberculosis through a single digital interface. The app is intended to support patients during their treatment journey by providing treatment guidance, adherence support and follow-up assistance.

The digital platform has also been integrated with existing systems, including Nikshay, to facilitate the seamless delivery of patient-centric services under the National TB Elimination Programme. The integration is aimed at strengthening continuity of care and improving access to support mechanisms available for TB patients.

Apart from patient care, the application has been designed to disseminate reliable information on tuberculosis, including its symptoms, preventive measures and available treatment options. According to the Ministry, the initiative seeks to improve public awareness, encourage early diagnosis and help reduce the stigma associated with the disease.

A key feature of the application is its integration with the Nikshay Mitra initiative, which enables members of the public, institutions, corporate organisations and other entities to register as Nikshay Mitras through the platform. Registered Nikshay Mitras can extend nutritional, social or financial support to tuberculosis patients during the course of their treatment.

The application also includes “Khushi – Aap Ke e-Sangini,” an interactive chatbot designed to provide users with immediate access to reliable information related to tuberculosis. The chatbot responds to queries on symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and government support services available for TB patients.

The Ministry has encouraged members of the public to download and actively use the application to access authentic information on tuberculosis and participate in community-based support initiatives through the Nikshay Mitra programme.

The launch of the TB Mukt Bharat App marks another digital intervention under the National TB Elimination Programme, with the platform combining patient support services, public awareness tools and community participation features to strengthen India’s ongoing efforts towards tuberculosis elimination.
