Sri Vijaya Puram, July 30: Eligible civil engineers from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been encouraged to apply for recruitment in the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), with the organisation stating that preference will be given to qualified local candidates for postings in its projects across the Union Territory. The recruitment drive offers a monthly remuneration of Rs.70,000 to Rs.80,000, while the application window remains open until August 5.
The employment opportunity was highlighted during a meeting in New Delhi between Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray and the Managing Director of NHIDCL, where the progress of National Highway projects, particularly across North and Middle Andaman, was reviewed.
During the meeting, the NHIDCL Managing Director informed that the corporation is recruiting civil engineers for its projects across the country, including those in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to NHIDCL, preference will be extended to eligible domicile candidates for appointments in its unit in the Islands.
The corporation also informed that although the recruitment advertisement has already been published, no applications have so far been received from domicile candidates from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The last date for submission of applications is August 5, 2026.
Eligible candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, have a minimum of two years of professional experience, and be not more than 30 years of age to apply for the positions.
NHIDCL has indicated that it will make sincere efforts to prioritise eligible local candidates during the selection process. Subject to eligibility and merit, the corporation expects the possibility of appointing eight to ten civil engineers from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for deployment in NHIDCL projects within the Union Territory.
The meeting also reviewed the status of National Highway works in the Islands. The NHIDCL Managing Director informed that steps have already been initiated to complete the remaining stretches of the National Highway by engaging fresh contractors and deploying additional engineering personnel to expedite execution within a defined timeline.
According to NHIDCL, a comprehensive review meeting will be held shortly to assess the progress of the ongoing highway works.
