OBC Scholarship Applications Open for Andaman and Nicobar Students Till October 31

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 6: Eligible students belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands can now apply for fresh and renewal scholarships under multiple government schemes, with the National Scholarship Portal opening the application process and setting October 31, 2026, as the last date for submission.

The scholarships are being offered through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), operated by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Government of India. The application window opened on July 1, 2026, for three schemes: the Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students, the Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC and Economically Backward Class (EBC) students, and the Grant of Additional Scholarship (UT) for OBC students pursuing higher education.

According to the notified schedule, online applications for all three schemes must be submitted by October 31, 2026. Students with defective applications will be allowed to complete verification until November 15, 2026. Institute-level verification will continue until November 30, while District Nodal Officer (DNO) and State Nodal Officer (SNO) verification will remain open until December 31, 2026.

The Pre-Matric Scholarship is available for eligible OBC students studying in Classes IX and X, while the Post-Matric Scholarship covers students pursuing studies from Class XI onwards. For both schemes, the parental annual income must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.

The Grant of Additional Scholarship (UT) is available to eligible OBC students from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands pursuing higher education anywhere in India after the secondary level, excluding Classes XI and XII. Under this scheme, the parental annual income ceiling has been fixed at Rs. 8 lakh per annum.

Eligible applicants have been advised to submit their applications through the National Scholarship Portal under the “Head State Scheme – Andaman and Nicobar.” Students applying under the Pre-Matric Scholarship, Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC and EBC, and the Additional Scholarship (UT) scheme are required to complete online registration and submit the prescribed application form within the stipulated timeline.

Applicants have also been advised to ensure that their bank accounts are active, Aadhaar-seeded and fully compliant with banking requirements to avoid delays or failures in scholarship disbursement. Students have further been urged to complete the application process well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Students requiring additional information or assistance have been advised to visit the National Scholarship Portal or contact their respective educational institutions.
