Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 01: Around 28 kg of suspected venison was seized near Subashgram after Diglipur Police intercepted three persons allegedly linked to its illegal transportation and sale on August 30, with the matter handed over to the Forest Department for legal action.
The interception followed information received by Police Station Diglipur concerning the alleged illegal movement and sale of wildlife meat. During checking, personnel recovered the suspected venison from the three persons and seized it.
Police subsequently informed the Forest Department about the seizure. The three persons and the recovered material were then handed over to the department for initiation of proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
The case places the alleged possession, transportation and sale of wildlife meat within the scope of enforcement under the wildlife protection law. The seizure took place in Subashgram during checking conducted by a team from PS Diglipur. The suspected venison was measured at approximately 28 kg before it was handed over along with the persons to the Forest Department.

The authorities said informants’ identities would remain confidential and that suitable rewards would be provided for actionable information.
