Official Statement

Date:

We have come across certain reports in which an individual has accused The Wave Andaman of slander. We would like to clarify that the report in question, which we later chose to retract, was originally based on verified and factual information connected to the Niyamat Ali murder case. The decision to retract it was taken purely on editorial grounds, as we felt the aforesaid reference was avoidable in the overall scheme of things and not materially relevant to the larger narrative surrounding the investigation.

Every report published by The Wave Andaman, whether retained or retracted, is supported by credible evidence obtained from law enforcement agencies and appropriate credible sources. Should any competent authority, including the police or the courts, seek the evidentiary basis of that report, we will fully cooperate and furnish all supporting documentation.

We are also aware that certain so called media outlets have circulated the said individual’s allegations without conducting basic verification or seeking our response. The Wave Andaman views such conduct as a serious breach of journalistic ethics. We are in the process of obtaining appropriate legal advice and will not hesitate to pursue legal action against any party propagating false or defamatory claims.

We will continue to keep our readers and stakeholders informed on this matter.
