NTA Opens UGC NET June 2026 Answer Key Challenge Window Till August 18

Date:

New Delhi, Aug 17: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a detailed video guide explaining how candidates can challenge the provisional answer key for the UGC NET June 2026 examination, providing applicants with a structured process to raise objections before the final answer key is released.

In a message posted on X, the NTA advised candidates who identify discrepancies in the provisional answer key to submit challenges through the prescribed online process along with valid supporting evidence. The agency also wished candidates success for their forthcoming results.

The NTA emphasised that the answer key released is provisional and that candidates who believe any answer is academically incorrect have an opportunity to file objections during the designated challenge window. It stated that every valid objection would be examined by subject experts before the final answer key is prepared.

To assist candidates, the agency released a step-by-step video demonstrating the complete objection process. The initiative is intended to help applicants understand how to submit challenges correctly and ensure that objections are supported by relevant academic proof.

Earlier, the NTA uploaded the provisional answer keys for 84 subjects of the UGC NET June 2026 examination. Candidates can also access their recorded response sheets and question papers through the official UGC NET website.

The provisional answer key enables candidates to compare their recorded responses with the official answers, estimate their likely scores and identify any questions they believe require review.

Candidates have until August 18 to submit objections. A processing fee of Rs 200 must be paid for each question challenged through the online portal.

According to the NTA, all objections submitted within the prescribed deadline will be examined by the concerned authorities before the final answer key is prepared and published.

The agency also clarified that while provisional answer keys have been released for 84 subjects, answer keys for English, Commerce and Sociology will be issued separately.

In an official notice, the NTA stated that a committee had been constituted to examine complaints relating to various types of errors reported in the question papers for these three subjects. Based on the committee’s recommendations, a separate public notice regarding English, Commerce and Sociology will be issued.

Candidates can access the provisional answer key by visiting the official UGC NET website and logging in using their application number along with their password or date of birth, depending on the available login option. After signing in, they can view their provisional answer key, recorded response sheet and question paper.

The NTA has advised candidates to carefully compare their responses with the provisional answer key, calculate their probable scores, submit objections if necessary within the deadline, and download copies of all relevant documents for future reference before the declaration of results.
