Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 01: The road stretch connecting Cellular Jail, Girls School, Flag Point, Sinclair’s Bay View, Mazar, Science Centre, Hornbill Nest and Corbyn’s Cove will face a temporary traffic restriction on October 2 to facilitate the safe and smooth conduct of a Mini Marathon organised as part of Wildlife Week 2026.
The restriction will remain in force from 5.30 am to 8.30 am, during which vehicular traffic will not be permitted along the notified stretch. The move will affect commuters using the connected roads during the early-morning period, with the general public advised to plan their travel accordingly.

The traffic restriction has been notified in exercise of powers conferred under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, read with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s notification dated March 10, 2008.
The affected route begins at Cellular Jail and runs through Girls School, Flag Point, Sinclair’s Bay View, Mazar, Science Centre and Hornbill Nest before reaching Corbyn’s Cove.
The authorities have asked the public to cooperate with the traffic arrangements during the restricted period. Commuters have also been directed to use alternate routes as instructed by the Traffic Police.
The restriction applies specifically to the notified road stretch and time window on October 2. The arrangement has been put in place in connection with the Mini Marathon being organised during the celebration of the 72nd Wildlife Week, 2026.
With the restriction covering a continuous road stretch linking several points, motorists travelling through the area during the notified hours will need to follow directions issued by the Traffic Police and use designated alternate routes.
