Sri Vijaya Puram, November 2: Residents of Shaheed Dweep received an opportunity to seek resolution of pending land and revenue-related matters through a special camp court organised by the South Andaman District Administration on October 31, as the administration sought to reduce case pendency and improve access to revenue services.
The camp court, held at the Gram Panchayat office in Neil Kendra, focused on expediting long-pending revenue cases, including mutation matters, and addressing public grievances. Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman, chaired the proceedings, with the Tehsildar of Sri Vijaya Puram also participating.
The initiative followed directions from the Lieutenant Governor and aimed to provide applicants with a local platform to pursue revenue-related matters without having to rely solely on routine administrative proceedings. The administration said the exercise was intended to facilitate transparent and time-bound disposal of cases and improve the delivery of public services.

Apart from revenue cases, officials also received grievances raised by residents and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The camp provided an opportunity to bring local administrative concerns directly before district officials.
The Assistant Commissioner also conducted field visits alongside public representatives and other stakeholders to assess issues and grievances on the ground. Complaints relating to departments other than revenue were recorded for referral to the respective departments for further action.
The exercise covered both individual revenue matters and broader local grievances, allowing officials to receive representations on issues requiring intervention from different administrative departments.

The District Administration, South Andaman, said it would continue to organise similar revenue camp courts and public outreach programmes at regular intervals. The stated priority is to reduce the backlog of mutation and other revenue cases, improve administrative access for residents and ensure the timely delivery of revenue-related services.
The initiative places local-level grievance redressal at the centre of the administration’s efforts to address pending revenue matters, while also creating a channel for residents and elected Panchayati Raj representatives to bring departmental concerns to the attention of officials.
