Sri Vijaya Puram, November 2: A total of 88 farmers in Car Nicobar completed their e-KYC during a district-level PM-KISAN Utsav Diwas programme on October 30, as the Agriculture Department arranged on-site facilities to help beneficiaries update their records and avoid interruptions in receiving financial assistance under the scheme.
The programme, organised by the Department of Agriculture, Car Nicobar, in coordination with ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Car Nicobar, was held at the Conference Hall of the Emergency Operations Centre at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Perka. Farmers gathered to watch the live telecast of the release of the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme by the Prime Minister from Banaskantha in Gujarat.
Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, Amit Kale attended as the chief guest, while Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters), Car Nicobar, Asheesh Kumar was the guest of honour. Village headmen, officers and representatives of allied departments, PM-KISAN beneficiaries, progressive farmers and farmer friends from different villages also participated.

The event included an interaction between farmers and officials, allowing beneficiaries to seek assistance with scheme-related requirements. Village headmen highlighted the benefits of PM-KISAN and urged farmers to keep their documents updated in coordination with the concerned departments.
To facilitate compliance, the organisers arranged e-KYC updation at the venue, Aadhaar seeding through the Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, and bank account seeding at the State Bank of India and Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank branches near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The facilities were intended to help beneficiaries complete the required formalities for continued receipt of scheme assistance. The completion of e-KYC by 88 farmers during the programme marked the number of beneficiaries who availed themselves of the facility on the day.
The programme also brought farmers from different villages into direct contact with officials and provided an opportunity to address difficulties related to documentation and other requirements for accessing PM-KISAN benefits.
