The District Planning Committee (DPC) of South Andaman, including the Campbell Bay revenue area, is set to convene from October 7 to 9, 2025. The meeting will be chaired by the Adhyaksh of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Shri Prakash Adhikari, and will take place in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad.
The DPC meeting will bring together committee members, special invitees, and Heads of Departments (HoDs) of all plan-implementing agencies under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The primary agenda is to review and deliberate on the 3-Year Action Plan for 2026-2029, as well as the Supplementary Action Plan for 2025-2026. The plans encompass proposals from all government departments, including Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies in the district.
The three-day schedule has been carefully structured to ensure comprehensive discussions across all sectors. On October 7, departments including Health, APWD, Electricity, District Administration, Agriculture, RD/PRIs, Shipping, Port Management Board, Industries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, and SVPMC will present their plans and proposals.
October 8 will see deliberations by departments such as Fisheries, Art & Culture, Information Technology, Education, JNRM, ANCOL, DBRAIT, TGCE, Law College, Social Welfare, Environment & Forest, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Labour, Employment & Training, Transport, and RCS.
On the final day, October 9, departments including Police & Fire Services, IP&T, Government Press, Civil Aviation, Sports & Youth Affairs, Judiciary, District Jail, Tribal Welfare, Personal (Cash), Pay & Accounts, Disaster Management, Science & Technology, and Economics & Statistics will present their proposals.
The committee aims to align departmental objectives with broader development goals, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to priority projects. Each department will detail initiatives, budget requirements, and timelines to streamline execution and optimize outcomes for the district.
The DPC plays a critical role in coordinating development efforts across South Andaman. By reviewing departmental proposals collectively, the committee ensures that plans are aligned with both regional priorities and government policy frameworks. Emphasis is placed on sustainable development, infrastructural improvements, social welfare, and economic growth.
Officials highlighted the importance of cross-departmental collaboration to address overlapping objectives, optimize resources, and prevent duplication of efforts. The committee is expected to provide guidance to departments to enhance efficiency and ensure that development projects meet the intended objectives within stipulated timelines.
The October DPC meeting is also expected to encourage input from local governance bodies, including Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies, fostering participatory planning. Such inclusivity ensures that development projects are sensitive to the needs of communities and responsive to local challenges.
Overall, the DPC meeting underscores the South Andaman administration’s commitment to strategic planning and coordinated governance. The structured agenda, comprehensive departmental participation, and focus on long-term and supplementary action plans reflect an effort to promote balanced development across the district while optimizing public resources.
As the district prepares for the three-day deliberation, officials stress that transparent planning and inter-departmental synergy are key to achieving development targets and ensuring that proposals are effectively implemented for the welfare of South Andaman’s residents.
