New Delhi, May 29: The Special Investigation Team probing allegations of sexual harassment, workplace exploitation and forced religious conversion linked to Tata Consultancy Services’ Nashik unit has filed a second chargesheet before a court in Maharashtra, intensifying the ongoing investigation into multiple complaints lodged by women employees.
Officials said the chargesheet was submitted on Thursday before the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in Nashik in connection with eight FIRs registered at Mumbai Naka Police Station under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The accused named in the chargesheet include Raza Rafiq Memon, Shahrukh Hussain Shaukat Qureshi, Ashwini Ashok Chainani, Tausif Bilal Attar, Shafi Bhikhan Shaikh, Danish Ejaz Shaikh and Nida Ejaz Khan, among others.
The development comes a week after the SIT filed a separate 1,500-page chargesheet on May 22 in another case registered at Deolali Camp Police Station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
That earlier chargesheet named Danish Ejaz Shaikh, Tausif Bilal Attar, Nida Ejaz Khan and Matin Majid Patel as accused persons in the investigation.
The SIT was constituted after several women employees working at the Nashik unit of the IT company alleged sustained harassment, religious coercion and workplace exploitation. The complaints triggered multiple criminal cases and led to a wider investigation into alleged organised pressure tactics within the workplace.
According to the allegations recorded by investigators, some employees were allegedly targeted through WhatsApp groups and pressured to adopt certain religious practices. Complainants alleged that they were encouraged or coerced into offering prayers, consuming non-vegetarian food and following specific customs associated with another religion.
Some women further alleged that they faced pressure to alter their dietary habits, wear religious symbols and participate in activities against their personal beliefs. The complaints also included allegations relating to molestation, mental harassment and hurting of religious sentiments.
Officials said the SIT’s latest chargesheet consolidates material linked to the Mumbai Naka Police Station cases and forms part of the broader investigation into allegations emerging from the Nashik unit.
Meanwhile, police also questioned AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel in connection with allegations that he had provided shelter to Nida Khan while she was allegedly absconding during the investigation.
Officials stated that Patel was interrogated for nearly nine hours on May 25 and has been asked to appear again before investigators on June 1.
The case has drawn significant public attention because of the serious nature of allegations involving workplace conduct, religious coercion and employee safety within a major corporate environment.
Investigators continue to examine statements, digital evidence and communication records as part of the ongoing probe. Multiple FIRs registered in different police stations in Nashik district remain under active investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding additional arrests or supplementary chargesheets at this stage.
