Science Centre Sri Vijaya Puram Announces Month-Long Holiday Camp for Students

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 22: In an effort to strengthen experiential learning during the summer break, the Science Centre at Sri Vijaya Puram has announced a month-long Holiday Camp for students of Classes VI to VIII, scheduled from May 2 to May 30.

Officials said the programme aims to encourage scientific curiosity and provide hands-on learning opportunities through structured training across multiple disciplines. The camp will be conducted in two daily shifts, designed to accommodate different batches of students.

The first shift will run from 9:15 am to 11:00 am, while the second shift is scheduled from 11:15 am to 1:00 pm. Each session will focus on interactive learning modules covering a range of scientific and technical subjects.

The schedule includes Aero Modelling and Creative Science from May 2 to 8, followed by Ship Building and Model Rocketry from May 9 to 15. The third phase, from May 16 to 22, will feature Robotic Science and Fun Biology, while the final segment from May 23 to 30 will cover Astronomy with Telescope Making and Fun Chemistry.

Authorities said the camp is designed to introduce students to practical applications of science through guided activities and experiments, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world understanding.

Registration for the programme has been opened through an online portal at https://sciencecentre.fun/camp/. Students can also register in person at the Science Centre during working hours from 10:30 am to 5 pm between April 24 and April 26.

A registration fee of Rs 500 per trade or training module will be applicable. Officials clarified that each discipline will be treated as a separate learning module for registration purposes.

To facilitate student movement, the Science Centre will operate bus services on two designated routes during the camp period. One route will cover Garacharma via Prothrapur, Austinabad, Chakkargaon, and Dudh Line, while the second will operate from Dollygunj via Goalghar, Haddo, Chatham, Foreshore Road, Bengali Club, and Devraj Clinic.

The transport facility will be available at a cost of Rs 250 per trade per week, aimed at ensuring accessibility for participants from different parts of the region.

For additional information, the Science Centre has provided contact numbers: 9434263302, 9476095554, 9933207860, and 9434296963. Officials said the initiative is intended to make science learning more engaging and accessible for school students during the vacation period.
