SBI RSETI to Expand Skill Development Programmes Across Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 7: SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Sri Vijaya Puram, is set to expand its skill development programmes across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after completing a training initiative for women at Campbell Bay, strengthening efforts to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among unemployed rural youth.

The institute has announced that it will roll out multiple skill development programmes across different parts of the Islands in the coming months, with a focus on improving employability and creating livelihood opportunities through industry-oriented training.

According to the institute, SBI RSETI Sri Vijaya Puram has been working consistently to equip unemployed rural youth with practical skills through a range of training programmes designed to encourage self-employment. A significant number of beneficiaries have been women associated with National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Self-Help Groups (SHGs), who have received training to strengthen their income-generating opportunities.

During the current financial year, the institute, with support from the Directorate of Rural Development, conducted a skill development training programme at Campbell Bay Gram Panchayat. The programme concluded with 33 women trainees successfully completing the training and acquiring practical skills aimed at supporting self-employment.

Building on the completion of the Campbell Bay programme, SBI RSETI has proposed a series of new training initiatives across the Islands to extend the reach of its skill development activities.

The proposed programmes include a computerised accounting training programme at Sri Vijaya Puram. In addition, Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving training programmes are planned at Shaheed Dweep, Car Nicobar and Mayabunder to provide participants with practical driving skills.

The institute also plans to organise a women tailoring programme at Shibpur Gram Panchayat in Diglipur, further expanding training opportunities for women seeking to improve their livelihood prospects through skill-based employment.

According to the institute, the planned programmes are intended to strengthen entrepreneurship and self-employment by providing participants with practical, job-oriented skills across multiple sectors.

SBI RSETI Sri Vijaya Puram stated that it remains committed to supporting unemployed youth through quality skill development initiatives that enable beneficiaries to become self-reliant entrepreneurs. The institute said its continued focus on vocational training is aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities while contributing to the vision of an Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
