The SARAS Mela 2025 continued to witness strong public turnout on its fourth day at the ITF Ground, as visitors explored a vibrant mix of cultural performances, craft exhibitions, and rural products brought in by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from across the Islands. The event, organised under the DAY-NRLM and Rural Development initiatives, maintained the momentum built over previous days, with steady crowds throughout.
Day 4 featured notable cultural performances that drew significant appreciation from attendees. A dance presentation by Punarvi and Drishita from Kurundham Helping Hands NGO, an Adhivasi folk dance performed by SHG members from Diglipur, and a dance performance by Srusti from Kurundham remained among the key highlights of the day. These performances, delivered by participants representing various SHGs and community groups, showcased exceptional talent and sustained audience interest.
Stalls set up by SHGs remained a major attraction throughout the day, offering handmade crafts, garments, spices, organic items, traditional foods, and a variety of local handicrafts. Visitors had the opportunity to engage with artisans through live demonstrations, gaining a deeper understanding of the traditional skills and craftsmanship practiced within rural communities.
In the evening, the Mela hosted a cultural programme featuring folk performances, traditional dances, and youth-led art presentations. Food stalls providing local and regional cuisines continued to draw long queues, further contributing to the event’s lively atmosphere.
The SARAS Mela’s performance on Day 4 followed a strong showing on the previous day, when sales touched Rs. 4.6 lakh. SHG-run stalls remained a central element, with the West Bengal stall emerging as one of the top performers after registering sales close to Rs. 41,000. With consistent public interest, organisers anticipate continued participation in the days ahead.
The event will continue until November 23, offering the public an opportunity to support rural entrepreneurs while experiencing the cultural diversity and community spirit that define the Mela.
