Home Delivery of Driving License for Villages Begins in Andaman and Nicobar

Residents will be able to access a range of services such as learner’s license issuance, license renewal, road tax collection, fitness certification, and vehicle registration at designated outreach camps.

Date:

In a major initiative to improve road safety and streamline access to transport services in remote regions, the Department of Transport, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has launched a wide-scale outreach programme titled ‘Parivahan Vibhaag Aapke Dwaar’. The programme aims to educate rural communities about road safety while offering on-the-spot transport-related services.

The campaign will cover multiple Panchayats and villages across North, Middle, and South Andaman districts, including Shaheed Dweep, Hut Bay, Baratang, Mayabunder, Rangat, Diglipur, Katchal, Teressa, Chowra, Nancowrie, Kamorta, and Campbell Bay. Camps will run from June to August 2025.

Transport Services at Doorstep

Residents will be able to access a range of services such as learner’s license issuance, license renewal, road tax collection, fitness certification, and vehicle registration at designated outreach camps. On-the-spot medical tests and first aid demonstrations will also be provided.

Other services include issue of No Objection Certificates, commercial permit processing, and termination of hypothecation. The programme especially targets vehicle owners, unions, transport workers, students, and the general public.

Joint Implementation with Health & Police Departments

The programme is being conducted in collaboration with the Health Department, Police Department, and local Panchayati Raj Institutions to ensure seamless execution. Dedicated desks will address grievances and clarify public doubts regarding transport services.

This outreach model is expected to reduce the need for villagers to travel long distances to access RTO services and raise awareness about critical road safety practices. Residents are encouraged to actively participate and take full advantage of the services brought to their doorstep.
