Sri Vijaya Puram, July 6: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, will conduct a Pre-Lok Adalat sitting on July 11 to facilitate the amicable settlement of 35 cases identified by the Calcutta High Court for the upcoming Special Lok Adalat to be organised by the Supreme Court of India. The initiative is aimed at obtaining the consent of the concerned parties before the national-level settlement proceedings scheduled in August.
The Pre-Lok Adalat will be held from 10.30 am to 1 pm at the Calcutta High Court, Circuit Bench at Port Blair. It forms part of the preparatory process for the Special Lok Adalat that will be organised by the Supreme Court of India on August 21, 22 and 23, 2026.
According to the official announcement, the Calcutta High Court has identified 35 cases falling under the jurisdiction of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for possible settlement during the Special Lok Adalat. The Pre-Lok Adalat has been planned to facilitate discussions between the parties and secure their consent for an amicable resolution before the matters are placed before the Special Lok Adalat.
The District Legal Services Authority stated that the sitting will focus on assisting the parties in exploring the possibility of resolving their disputes through mutual agreement. The process is intended to streamline the identified cases before they are taken up during the three-day Special Lok Adalat organised by the Supreme Court.
The authority has also informed that the official list of the 35 identified cases, along with individual notices issued to the concerned parties, has been uploaded on the District Court website.
Affected parties have been requested to verify the details of their respective cases through the District Court portal and take note of the scheduled Pre-Lok Adalat sitting.
The initiative forms part of the legal services mechanism aimed at encouraging consensual settlement of eligible disputes before they are placed before the Special Lok Adalat at the national level.
The District Legal Services Authority has advised all concerned parties whose cases have been identified to attend the scheduled sitting and participate in the settlement process.
