Sri Vijaya Puram, June 23: A passenger was detained at Veer Savarkar International Airport and later handed over to Aberdeen Police after security personnel allegedly discovered a suspected forged Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) identity card during a routine security check, prompting the registration of a police case and the launch of an investigation.
According to information received, the incident occurred on June 21 at around 8:40 am in the arrival area of Veer Savarkar International Airport. The passenger, identified as Haru Das, had reportedly arrived on Air India Flight No. X-2782 along with Susmita Das when he came under scrutiny during a random inspection conducted by the Narco Team of Andaman & Nicobar Police.
Sources stated that during the verification process, Haru Das allegedly produced a CISF identity card and claimed to be an employee of the force. However, officials conducting the check reportedly became suspicious after observing irregularities in the document, leading them to question its authenticity.
During preliminary questioning, the individual allegedly informed security personnel that he had been removed from CISF service in 2019. The statement, coupled with doubts regarding the document’s authenticity, prompted authorities to initiate further verification procedures.
Following the inquiry at the airport, the passenger was handed over to Aberdeen Police Station for legal action and further investigation. The suspected identity card, bearing number 055675, was also seized and transferred to the police as part of the case record.
Police sources indicated that the matter falls within the jurisdiction of Aberdeen Police Station as the incident occurred in the arrival area of Veer Savarkar International Airport. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the authenticity of the identity card and the circumstances surrounding its alleged use.
The case has reportedly been assigned to PSI Abhishek for further inquiry. Investigators are expected to examine the seized document and verify whether it is genuine or forged through the appropriate verification process.
Authorities are also expected to ascertain whether the identity card was knowingly used to represent the individual as a serving member of the Central Industrial Security Force. The findings of the investigation will determine the nature of any further legal action in the matter.
The incident has drawn attention to security screening procedures at critical infrastructure facilities, where identity verification forms an important component of routine checks. Officials have not released additional details regarding the case at this stage.
Police have continued their inquiry, and further information is expected to emerge once document verification and other investigative procedures are completed. Authorities have stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are awaited.
