On-the-Job Training Program Launched for ITI Surveyor Trainees in North & Middle Andaman

Date:

The District Administration of North & Middle Andaman has launched a structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) program for second-year Surveyor Trainees of ITI, Bakultala, aimed at enhancing practical skills and field-level knowledge. The initiative is being implemented under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Sushant Padha, IAS.

The 15-day training program, which commenced on December 22, 2025, engages trainees with experienced Surveyors and Sub-Divisional officers (S&D) across the three sub-divisions of Rangat, Diglipur, and Mayabunder. Under this arrangement, trainees receive hands-on exposure to survey operations while working closely with field officials.

Designated Surveyors and S&D officials guide and supervise the trainees, providing practical insights into ground-level challenges and operational procedures encountered during surveys. The program is structured to ensure that trainees gain firsthand experience in fieldwork, preparing them for future professional roles in survey and technical operations.

Assistant Commissioners of the respective sub-divisions oversee the training, ensuring that trainees follow best practices and acquire essential technical skills. Officials said the OJT program allows young trainees to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, strengthening their overall competencies.

At the conclusion of the training, trainees will be felicitated with certificates by the Deputy Commissioner. These certificates are expected to serve as recognition of their practical experience and provide encouragement for their continued academic and professional development.

The initiative reflects the Administration’s commitment to skill development and capacity building for young professionals. By providing structured, hands-on exposure under experienced officials, the program aims to enhance trainees’ technical proficiency and professional readiness.

Officials emphasized that such programs play a critical role in equipping future surveyors with practical problem-solving skills, an understanding of field-level survey challenges, and familiarity with administrative processes. The training also aligns with broader efforts to strengthen technical competencies among youth in North & Middle Andaman.

The OJT program for ITI Surveyor Trainees is part of ongoing efforts by the District Administration to ensure quality training, hands-on learning, and capacity building for technical students, ultimately supporting professional development and operational efficiency in field survey operations.
