Sri Vijaya Puram, April 27: A blind hit-and-run case reported from the Chouldari area was solved within five hours by the Police Station Ograbraj team after swift registration of an FIR and coordinated investigation following an accident alert received from PHC Chouldari.
The incident came to light on April 22, 2026, when information regarding a road accident was reported from the Chouldari area. Acting on the input, police registered a case immediately and formed a dedicated team to trace the accused and identify the vehicle involved in the incident.
The investigation team carried out sustained search operations, combining field inquiry with technical support. Police officials stated that coordinated efforts led to the identification and location of the accused within a short span of five hours from the time of the incident. The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was also traced and subsequently seized during the operation.
The case investigation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Stalin N. S., who serves as Station House Officer of Police Station Ograbraj. The operation was conducted under the guidance of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bambooflat, and under the overall supervision of the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
According to police inputs, the case progressed rapidly due to immediate registration of the FIR, structured coordination among personnel, and the use of available technical resources during the search operation. The accused was apprehended following continuous tracking efforts by the police team.
Officials involved in the operation included ASI(SG) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Ashok Roy, Head Constable(SG) Abubacker Sidique, and Constables Jayanta Kumar Biswas, Rupesh Narayan, Aslam, and Abdul Rahman, who were part of the investigation and search efforts.
The police have urged members of the public to come forward with information related to any criminal or illegal activity. Authorities have provided emergency contact numbers, including 112, 03192-232100, and 03192-236641, for reporting incidents.
It has been assured that the identity of informants will remain confidential to encourage public cooperation in crime reporting and prevention efforts.
The case remains part of ongoing legal procedures following the seizure of the vehicle and apprehension of the accused.
