New Delhi, May 6: In a move aimed at addressing gaps in governance and improving last-mile delivery, NITI Aayog has launched a digital platform to enable real-time monitoring and coordination across administrative levels.
The Central Prabhari Officer (CPO) portal has been introduced to streamline communication between field officials and decision-makers under the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme. The initiative is designed to ensure that field-level observations directly inform policy actions and administrative responses without delays.
According to NITI Aayog, the platform allows Central Prabhari Officers to submit observations and recommendations from the field in real time using mobile devices. Once uploaded, the inputs become instantly accessible to district authorities, enabling them to review suggestions, take necessary action, and submit responses through the same system.
The portal creates a structured feedback loop involving multiple levels of governance. District administrations can act on field inputs, while State Planning Secretaries gain an overview of developments across departments, facilitating coordinated implementation. At the national level, officials from NITI Aayog, line ministries, and departments are able to monitor the flow of information and track responses.
NITI Aayog CEO Nidhi Chhibber stated that the platform is intended to build a more transparent and responsive governance system. She noted that the integration of real-time data submission with policy feedback mechanisms ensures that ground-level insights are not lost in administrative processes.
Officials highlighted that the system is designed to improve accountability by providing instant visibility of issues and tracking progress on responses. The digital interface aims to reduce delays typically associated with manual reporting and fragmented communication channels.
Rohit Kumar, Additional Secretary and Mission Director for the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme, emphasised the role of data-driven governance in improving outcomes. He said the portal has been developed as an advanced tool to capture real-time inputs, streamline communication, and enable faster administrative action across different tiers of governance.
The platform also seeks to bridge the gap between field observations and decision-making by ensuring that information flows seamlessly from the ground to policymakers. This is expected to improve the efficiency of programme implementation, particularly in regions identified under the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme.
By enabling structured monitoring and coordinated responses, the CPO portal is positioned as a mechanism to strengthen governance systems and enhance responsiveness. Authorities indicated that the initiative is expected to support more effective implementation of development programmes by aligning field insights with administrative action.
The launch of the portal reflects a broader shift towards technology-driven governance, with an emphasis on improving service delivery and reducing inefficiencies in public administration.
