Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 29: The High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC), Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court at Port Blair, has announced that the third National Lok Adalat of 2026 will be held on September 12 to facilitate the settlement of pending High Court cases and eligible pre-litigation disputes through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
The National Lok Adalat will commence at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, at the Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court premises in Port Blair. The initiative is intended to provide parties with an opportunity to resolve disputes pending before the Calcutta High Court, including matters relating to the Circuit Bench at Port Blair, without proceeding through the regular adjudication process.
The High Court Legal Services Committee has invited parties interested in resolving their disputes before the Lok Adalat to submit joint applications. Applications may be filed jointly by the parties concerned or through their advocates.
The last date for submission of applications has been fixed as 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 3. Applications will be received at the office of the High Court Legal Services Committee located within the Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court Complex at Port Blair.
Applicants may also submit their applications by email at hcourt.and@nic.in before the prescribed deadline.
The committee has clarified that applications received after September 3 will not be considered for the forthcoming National Lok Adalat. Instead, they will be taken up for the next Lok Adalat, considering the time required to requisition case records from the concerned departments and complete the process of constituting benches and preparing cause lists.
The committee has also informed litigants and advocates that reconstruction of files will not be entertained if the original case records are unavailable before the Lok Adalat Bench.
According to the notification, the cause list for the National Lok Adalat will be prepared solely on the basis of the availability of case records. Parties seeking settlement have therefore been advised to ensure that their applications are submitted within the stipulated time to facilitate the necessary procedural arrangements before the sitting of the Lok Adalat.
The National Lok Adalat is being organised to facilitate settlement of eligible pending cases and pre-litigation matters before the High Court through the alternative dispute resolution process.
