National Immunization Day Polio Campaign to Begin Across Andaman on June 28

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 27: The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will observe the National Immunization Day (NID) for Polio on June 28 as part of the nationwide immunisation programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, aimed at protecting eligible children against poliomyelitis through Oral Polio Vaccination (OPV).

The immunisation drive will commence with an inaugural programme at the Urban Health Centre (UHC), Junglighat, at 8.30 am on June 28. During the ceremony, dignitaries will administer two drops of Oral Polio Vaccine to eligible children, formally launching the National Immunization Day activities in the Islands.

The programme forms part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s scheduled observance of National Immunization Day for Polio in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Health authorities will administer the Oral Polio Vaccine to eligible children under the campaign to strengthen protection against polio and sustain immunisation coverage. The vaccine will be given in the form of two oral drops during the drive.

The inaugural ceremony at UHC Junglighat will mark the beginning of the vaccination campaign in the Islands in line with the national immunisation schedule announced by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The National Immunization Day programme continues to be an important public health initiative focused on preventing poliomyelitis through routine vaccination and ensuring that eligible children receive the Oral Polio Vaccine.

The administration has scheduled the inauguration of the campaign at UHC Junglighat, where the immunisation drive will officially begin on the morning of June 28.
