Sri Vijaya Puram, August 17: Gram Panchayat Namunaghar has been conferred the Best Panchayat Award in recognition of its sustained implementation of Central Government schemes and its successful organisation of a Mela for five consecutive years, marking a significant achievement in local governance in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The award was presented by the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, recognising the panchayat’s performance in executing Central Government programmes and maintaining continuity in organising the Mela over the past five years.
The recognition highlights the panchayat’s consistent efforts in implementing government initiatives at the grassroots level while ensuring the successful conduct of the annual Mela over successive years.

The honour has been welcomed as a matter of pride for the residents of Namunaghar, reflecting the panchayat’s achievements in delivering public programmes and community initiatives.
Residents of Namunaghar expressed gratitude to the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Namunaghar for the achievement, acknowledging the leadership associated with the recognition.
The Best Panchayat Award recognises Gram Panchayat Namunaghar’s performance in two key areas cited for the honour: the effective implementation of Central Government schemes and the successful organisation of the Mela for five consecutive years.
