Minor Girl Kidnapped from Garacharma Rescued Within 48 Hours, Accused Arrested

Date:

Summary

A minor girl reported missing from Garacharma was rescued within 48 hours from the Bambooflat area, with the accused arrested in connection with the case. The investigation progressed despite the absence of eyewitnesses, using CCTV inputs, technical analysis, and field-based tracking to identify the suspect. The girl was recovered safely, underwent medical procedures, and was handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities.

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 23: A minor girl who went missing from Garacharma was traced and rescued within 48 hours from the Bambooflat area, with the accused taken into custody in connection with the case.

The incident came to light after the girl’s father lodged a complaint at Police Station Pahargaon on May 19, 2026, reporting that his younger daughter had been missing since May 18, 2026, around 6 PM. Acting on the complaint, a case was registered under FIR No. 80/2026 dated May 19, 2026, under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The case initially presented challenges due to the absence of eyewitnesses and limited immediate leads. Investigators began examining available inputs, including footage from nearby areas, which yielded only partial and unclear visual clues. Despite these constraints, further analysis helped generate potential leads.

The investigation progressed through a combination of technical and field-based methods. Authorities examined social media activity linked to suspected individuals and reviewed travel-related information gathered from different sources. This process enabled investigators to narrow down the possible location of the suspect.

Based on the emerging leads, a search operation was conducted in the Bambooflat area. During the operation, the missing minor girl, identified as Serina Khatun, was located and rescued. The accused, identified as Asik Billa, a resident of Namunaghar, was apprehended from the same area.

Preliminary findings indicated that the accused had allegedly lured the minor girl and taken her away without the consent of her lawful guardians. Following the recovery, the girl underwent medical examination and required legal procedures were completed.

Subsequently, she was safely handed over to her family. Authorities confirmed that she was recovered without further incident.

The case highlights the challenges involved in tracing missing persons where direct evidence is limited, particularly in the absence of eyewitness accounts. The use of technical inputs and coordinated search efforts played a key role in identifying the suspect’s location.

Officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing to establish all aspects related to the case.
