A. Jaishree from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands clinched two gold medals at the 4th SQAY Martial Art National Championship 2025–26, held from 25 to 29 October 2025 at Jodhamal Rajgarh in Jaynagar, Madhya Pradesh. Representing the islands in the Sub Junior category, she secured top positions in the Field Weapon (Pranadah – Trishon Shoti) event across two separate weight groups, earning gold in both.

The championship was organised by the SQAY Association of Bhopal under the SQAY Martial Art Federation of India, with support from Fit India. Athletes from across the country competed in multiple divisions, making it one of the significant national-level platforms for SQAY martial artists. Jaishree’s double victory highlights her strong technical ability and consistent performance throughout the competition.

One of her events fell under the –32 kg weight group, while the second was in a higher weight category. Both achievements came within the same championship period, further adding to the significance of her performance.

The annual national championship aims to promote traditional SQAY martial arts and encourage wider participation among young athletes. Jaishree’s success underscores the growing representation of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in competitive martial arts and highlights the increasing interest of island youth in structured combat training.

Her accomplishment marks a proud moment for the Union Territory, reflecting the emerging talent within the islands and contributing to the region’s expanding presence in national sports. The dual gold medal win positions Jaishree among the promising young athletes from the islands, further encouraging participation in future martial arts events and competitions.
