Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 28: The long-neglected Haddo fish market, located beside the Haddo bus stand, is set to undergo renovation and development as authorities move forward with the process to initiate the proposed project.
Haddo Councillor Someswara Rao said the existing condition of the fish market is poor and that efforts are underway to improve and upgrade the facility. According to him, the proposal is being taken forward with the objective of commencing the development work at the earliest.
Rao said a request has also been received from the office of Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray seeking details of the estimated cost of the proposed renovation. He said the required estimate is being forwarded to facilitate the next stage of the process for undertaking the project.
The councillor expressed confidence that the long-pending development of the market would move ahead and that the present condition of the facility would improve once the proposed work is taken up.
The Haddo fish market serves residents, vendors and members of the local fishing community and has remained in need of improvement. The proposed renovation is intended to upgrade the existing infrastructure and improve the functioning of the market.
According to Rao, the submission of the project estimate marks an important procedural step before further action on the proposed development can be initiated. He indicated that efforts are continuing to ensure the project progresses without unnecessary delay.
Rao also acknowledged the support extended by Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray towards the proposed redevelopment of the fish market and expressed gratitude for the intervention in advancing the proposal.
The planned renovation is expected to improve the condition of the market and provide a more functional facility for vendors, the fishing community and residents who depend on the market for their daily requirements.
With the proposal now moving through the required administrative process, the focus remains on completing the formalities needed to begin the redevelopment of the long-neglected Haddo fish market.
