Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 02: Relatives and attendants of Nicobari patients staying in the designated waiting area at G.B. Pant Hospital will now have access to air coolers following directions from Lieutenant Governor Dr. Dinesh Sharma to address the difficulties caused by prevailing heat.
During his recent visit to the hospital, Sharma reviewed the conditions at the waiting area designated for relatives and attendants of Nicobari patients and highlighted the need to improve their comfort and basic amenities.
Taking note of the heat and the difficulties faced by those who remain at the facility while caring for their patients, Sharma directed the concerned authorities to arrange adequate air coolers at the earliest.
The directions have since been implemented, with air coolers now installed in the designated waiting area. The facility is intended to provide relief to patients’ relatives and attendants who have to remain at the hospital while attending to their patients.

The cooling arrangement addresses a basic facility requirement at a waiting area used by relatives and attendants, particularly during periods of high temperature and heat. Its installation is expected to provide a more comfortable environment for those required to stay at the facility for extended periods.
The action follows the Lieutenant Governor’s intervention during his hospital visit and the subsequent implementation of his direction by the concerned authorities.
The waiting area is specifically designated for relatives of Nicobari patients, making the provision relevant to families who remain at the hospital while their patients receive care.
The installation of the air coolers also brings attention to the importance of basic amenities for patient attendants, who may spend extended periods at healthcare facilities while supporting family members undergoing treatment.
With the cooling facility now in place, relatives and attendants using the designated waiting area will have an improved arrangement to cope with heat while remaining at the hospital.
The development comes after Sharma identified the need during his hospital visit and instructed authorities to act promptly on the issue.
