Sri Vijaya Puram, May 28: Students from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands seeking higher education opportunities outside the Union Territory have been offered reserved admission seats in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at for the academic session 2026-27.
According to a press release issued from Sri Vijaya Puram on Tuesday, the Principal of Farook College (Autonomous), Kozhikode, affiliated to the , has informed the Administration that one seat each has been reserved for native students of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in both UG and PG courses.
Officials said interested students must complete mandatory online registration procedures both through the college admission portal and the University Centralized Admission Process (CAP) portal to become eligible for consideration.
The Administration clarified that registration through the University CAP system is compulsory for admission to the college. Students have also been instructed to separately register through the official admission portal of Farook College.
Authorities stated that students interested in applying should carefully review the courses offered and admission guidelines available on the college website. As per the notification issued by the institution, the last date for online registration for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes is May 31, 2026.

The Development-IV Section of the Secretariat at Sri Vijaya Puram has asked eligible and interested students to submit applications along with supporting documents and proof of registration on both portals on or before June 5, 2026.
The Administration stated that applications received within the stipulated timeline would be forwarded to the concerned institution for consideration against the seats reserved for students from the Islands.
Farook College is among Kerala’s well-known higher educational institutions and offers a range of programmes in arts, science, commerce and professional streams. The reservation of seats for Island students is expected to provide additional opportunities for those seeking quality higher education outside the Union Territory.
Officials noted that such reserved seats often help students from geographically remote regions gain access to established educational institutions on the mainland, where course availability and academic infrastructure may be broader.
The announcement comes at a time when many students across the Islands are actively exploring higher education options following completion of board examinations and graduation programmes.
Education authorities have advised students not to delay the registration process, particularly because admissions through centralized portals are often subject to strict deadlines and documentation requirements.
Applicants have also been reminded to ensure that all submitted documents are complete and accurate in order to avoid complications during verification and admission processing.
The Administration said the initiative reflects continued coordination between educational institutions on the mainland and the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to support academic opportunities for Island students.
Parents and students have been encouraged to regularly monitor official admission portals and notifications for updates regarding eligibility criteria, merit lists and counselling procedures.
Officials reiterated that only registered and eligible candidates who complete both the university and college-level registration formalities would be considered for forwarding of nominations against the reserved seats.
The Development-IV Section is expected to process and transmit the applications received from eligible students after scrutiny of the required documents and registration proofs.
