Electricity Department Announces Power Cuts in Key South Andaman Areas for Maintenance

Date:

Residents and government offices in several parts of South Andaman have been informed of scheduled power interruptions as the Electricity Department undertakes critical maintenance and upgrade work on local transformers and feeder systems.

On May 7, 2025, from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm, electricity will be suspended across Dollygunj, Attam Pahad, Old Pahargaon, ICMR Colony, Minnie Bay, parts of School Line, Lamba Line Water Treatment Plant, Bhatubasti, Laxmi Motor Area, Pathergudda, Satellite Colony, New Pahargaon, CIARI, Ayyanar Temple, Calicut, New Bimblitan, parts of Teylorabad, and Macca Pahad. This shutdown is required to shift load between power transformers, ensuring smoother and more reliable electricity supply in the future.

Additionally, on May 10, 2025, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, there will be a planned outage in Dairy Farm, Junglighat, and Vijay Bagh areas for repairs on the faulty 11 KV Feeder Ring Main Unit (FRMU) near Junglighat Jetty.

While these time slots are approximate, officials assure that if work is completed ahead of schedule, the power supply will be restored sooner. Consumers are encouraged to visit the department’s website at https://vidyut.andaman.gov.in for updates or to call the toll-free helpline at 1800-345-1111 to report any ongoing supply issues.
