Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 21: Environmental and climate conditions in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands came under discussion as Lt Governor Dr Dinesh Sharma held talks with experts from the University of Lucknow during a programme organised by its Department of Geology.
The discussion took place at the ONGC Centre on the University of Lucknow campus, bringing the Lt Governor into interaction with faculty members and experts from multiple academic disciplines.
The programme was organised by the Department of Geology and brought together specialists from areas including zoology, geology, advanced computing, molecular genetics and infectious diseases, food processing and technology, commerce and the university’s Works Department.
Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini attended the programme along with Prof. Amita Kanaujia, Head of the Department of Zoology, and Prof. Dhruv Sen Singh, Senior Professor in the Department of Geology and Programme Coordinator.
Prof. Vineet Kumar Verma, Superintendent of the Works Department, Prof. Puneet Mishra, Director of the Institute for Development of Advanced Computing, and Prof. Dr Monisha Banerjee, Director of the Institute of Advanced Molecular Genetics and Infectious Diseases, were also present.
The programme also saw participation from Prof. C.R. Gautam, Director of the Institute of Food Processing and Technology, and Prof. Avadhesh Tripathi from the Department of Commerce.
Dr A.K. Kulshrestha, Dr Sudhir Shukla and Dr Sripad Jain, along with other faculty members and university experts, also attended the programme.
The interaction brought together expertise across scientific and academic fields for discussions concerning the environmental and climate conditions of the island territory. The participation of specialists from different departments provided an academic setting for the discussions held during the programme.
For the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where environmental conditions form a key part of the territory’s geographical context, the engagement placed the island region’s climate and environment at the centre of an interaction involving experts from a major university.
The programme concluded with the participation of the university’s faculty members and experts alongside Dr Dinesh Sharma.
