Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 27: A 53-year-old man was arrested in Diglipur after police allegedly recovered 34.11 grams of suspected ganja from his possession during a late-night operation at Subashgram, according to sources. The case is under investigation.
Sources said the action followed information received on August 26 alleging that Amal Das, son of Late Rabindra Kumar Das and a resident of Laxmipur, Ward No. 03, had travelled to Diglipur from Sri Vijaya Puram by Anand Bus while allegedly carrying a quantity of ganja.
Based on the information, police intercepted Das at Subashgram Bazar and took him to Diglipur Police Station for questioning. According to sources, no contraband was recovered during the initial inquiry, following which he was released at around 11:15 p.m. with instructions to leave the police station.

Shortly after his release, police reportedly received fresh information from the same source alleging that an unidentified individual had handed over a packet to Das at Subashgram Bazar. Acting on the new input, a search operation was conducted in the direction of Laxmipur.
During the operation, Das was intercepted near the Hollow Block Company of Ujjal Saha at Subashgram Ward No. 01. According to sources, a search allegedly led to the recovery of one transparent polythene packet containing suspected ganja.
The seized substance weighed 34.11 grams, police sources said. Das was subsequently arrested in connection with the case.
The nature of the seized substance and the circumstances surrounding its alleged possession remain subject to investigation. Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the unidentified individual who allegedly handed over the packet or the possible source of the suspected contraband.
Further investigation is underway.
