Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 8: The DC SP Cup Inter-Village Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2026 concluded with its Grand Finale at Corbyn’s Cove Beach, Sri Vijaya Puram, today, bringing together teams from across South Andaman District under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
Organised by the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) and the Superintendent of Police (South Andaman), the tournament was conducted in collaboration with the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Directorate of Education and MY Bharat. Teams from villages and Panchayats across Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil, Ferrargunj Tehsil, Shaheed Dweep, Swaraj Dweep and Little Andaman participated in the championship.
Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Purva Garg, IAS, and Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, attended the Grand Finale as chief guests and witnessed the final matches. They appreciated the participating teams for their enthusiasm, discipline and sportsmanship.

In the men’s final, Gram Panchayat Mithakhari defeated Gram Panchayat Guptapara 25–20 and 25–19 to claim the championship. Guptapara finished as runners-up.
In the women’s final, Volleygirls secured the title after defeating Storm Breakers 15–07 and 15–03. Storm Breakers took the runners-up position.
The chief guests presented championship trophies and medals to the winning and runners-up teams in both categories. Winners in each category received Rs. 12,000, while the runners-up were awarded Rs. 6,000.
The tournament also featured the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Oath Ceremony. Participating players took the pledge before every match, linking the sporting competition with a message promoting a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society.
The tournament provided a platform for youth and communities to participate in sport while raising awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. It also emphasised discipline, teamwork, fitness, sportsmanship and community participation as part of the collective commitment towards “Nasha Se Mukti”.
The District Administration expressed appreciation to the participating teams, officials, Panchayat representatives, volunteers, supporting departments and members of the public for contributing to the conduct of the tournament.
