A&N Administration celebrates Civil Accounts Day; launches e-Sankalan app

Date:

The Pay & Accounts Organization of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration celebrated the 8th A&N Civil Accounts Day on Monday at the TGCE Auditorium in Sri Vijaya Puram. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Secretary (Finance) Dr. Aman Gupta, Chief Engineer (APWD) Dr. Prijith Rekh and Director (Accounts & Budget) S. Dasgupta.

A key highlight of the programme was the launch of the e-Sankalan mobile application by Dr. Gupta. Developed with technical support from SOVTECH, the platform serves as a digital repository for rule books, manuals, office memoranda, circulars and other official publications of the Government of India and the A&N Administration. Officials said the app is designed to minimise reliance on physical guard files and provide quick access to updated instructions, thereby improving efficiency for accounts personnel. The app is available on the Google Play Store and through the web portal.

The celebration also featured a cultural presentation by staff members and their children, drawing appreciation from the audience for its variety and participation.

In his address, the Secretary (Finance) commended the enthusiasm surrounding the observance, including the conduct of sporting activities. Speaking at the event, Chief Engineer Dr. Prijith Rekh praised the talent within the Accounts Cadre, noting its contributions to maintaining financial accountability across the Administration. He also underlined the cadre’s role in ensuring the smooth execution of government schemes, projects and works in coordination with other departments.

Earlier, Director (Accounts & Budget) S. Dasgupta delivered the welcome address, emphasising the importance of Civil Accounts Day in recognising the cadre’s role in strengthening financial governance and improving administrative efficiency.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Shadab Rasheed, President of the Staff Council.
