High-Value Mobile Theft at Bathubasti Shop; Devices Worth Up to ₹25 Lakh Reported Stolen

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 24: A major theft case has been reported from Bathubasti in South Andaman, where mobile phones and electronic equipment valued between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh were allegedly stolen from a retail mobile phone outlet during an overnight break-in.

According to information received, the incident occurred at Digital Zone, a mobile phone shop located in Bathubasti, during the intervening night of June 22 and June 23. The alleged theft is believed to have taken place between 12:30 am and 2:00 am.

A written complaint was subsequently lodged with Pahargaon Police Station by Mohammed Althaf V, the shop manager. In the complaint, he stated that when the shop was opened at around 9:00 am on Tuesday, several items kept inside the premises were found missing.

The stolen property reportedly includes 18 newly packed mobile phones intended for sale, two customer mobile phones that had been deposited for repair and servicing, and one HDMI Splitter. The missing devices include multiple premium smartphone models, including Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air variants, along with a Vivo smartphone.

Two customer-owned devices, an iPhone 15 Pro Max and a Samsung A52, were also reported missing from the shop. Based on the complaint, the total estimated loss is believed to be between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh.

In his complaint, the shop manager alleged that unknown persons entered the premises and committed the theft with dishonest intent. He requested police to register a case, conduct a detailed investigation, trace the missing devices and initiate legal proceedings against those responsible.

To assist investigators, details of the stolen mobile phones, including their IMEI numbers, have reportedly been submitted to the police. These identifiers may help authorities track the devices and support recovery efforts.

Pahargaon Police have acknowledged receipt of the complaint and initiated an investigation into the matter. Officers are examining the circumstances surrounding the reported break-in and efforts are underway to identify those involved.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
