Sri Vijaya Puram, October 3: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) observed the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, along with the death anniversary of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and senior Congress leader K. Kamaraj, at the Congress Office in Sri Vijaya Puram.
ANTCC President Rangalal Halder and G. Bhasker led the observance by garlanding portraits of the three leaders and offering floral tributes. Party leaders and workers from the District Congress South Andaman, along with representatives of the ANTCC, City Congress, Mahila Congress, Minority Department, OBC, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (RGPRS) and Youth Congress, also participated in the programme.
PMBC councillors and representatives of the various organisational units joined the tributes as the Congress members recalled the public contributions of Gandhi, Shastri and Kamaraj.
The programme focused on the values associated with the three leaders. Participants recalled Gandhi’s emphasis on truth, non-violence and communal harmony, while remembering Shastri for his commitment to simplicity, integrity and national service.
Kamaraj’s contribution to public life, the Congress organisation and the development of the nation also formed part of the observance.
The event brought together different organisational wings of the territorial Congress to mark the three occasions at the party office. Leaders and workers subsequently renewed their commitment to uphold the principles and values associated with the three leaders.
The observance combined tributes to Gandhi and Shastri on their birth anniversaries with a remembrance of Kamaraj on his death anniversary, highlighting their respective contributions to public life and national service.
