Sri Vijaya Puram, May 20: Anil Tiwari, State President of the BJP in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, recently met Kiren Rijiju, senior BJP leader and Union Minister, during an interaction focused on developmental priorities and infrastructure growth in the island territory.
During the meeting, discussions reportedly centred on ongoing projects and future opportunities aimed at strengthening infrastructure and public services in the islands.
According to sources, Tiwari apprised the Union Minister about various development initiatives currently being undertaken across different parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and highlighted issues linked to connectivity, infrastructure and welfare schemes.

The discussions also focused on development works and government schemes underway in the North and Middle Andaman region. Both leaders reportedly exchanged views on measures aimed at improving implementation and accelerating developmental activities in remote island areas.
The interaction comes at a time when several infrastructure and tourism-related projects are being pursued across the islands with support from the Central Government and local administration.
During the meeting, emphasis was also laid on the need for sustained support towards regional connectivity, public infrastructure and tourism-linked development initiatives that could contribute to economic growth in the islands.
Sources said the Union Minister acknowledged the strategic and developmental importance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and assured continued attention towards issues concerning the region.
Tiwari, meanwhile, expressed appreciation for the Centre’s developmental focus on the islands and discussed local concerns requiring policy-level support and administrative coordination.
Such interactions between local representatives and central leadership is important for bringing island-specific concerns to national attention, especially in sectors such as connectivity, tourism, infrastructure and welfare.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with both sides expressing optimism over continued cooperation and developmental engagement for the benefit of the island population.
